Andy Brown joined Shell Foundation’s Board of Trustees in November 2015.
Andy joined Shell in 1984 after completing his degree in Engineering Science at Cambridge University in the UK and between 1985 and 2000 he worked in a number of engineering and leadership roles in New Zealand, the Netherlands, Italy, Brunei, and Oman.
Andy was appointed to the Executive Committee of Royal Dutch Shell in April 2012. He is responsible for Shell’s global Upstream business including exploration and production of conventional and deep water oil and gas. Prior to this he oversaw the Upstream International business, which operated globally outside the Americas, including exploration, production and integrated gas. In 2000, Andy was appointed to work with the Vice Chairman of Shell as Senior Advisor for the Middle East and Former Soviet Union, and later become Private Assistant to the Chairman of Shell.
In 2002, Andy joined Shell Gas and Power as Project Director for the pioneering Pearl GTL gas-to-liquids project in Qatar. Subsequently, he was appointed Managing Director of the newly formed Qatar Shell GTL Ltd and led the successful delivery and start-up of Pearl GTL. In addition, he was appointed Executive Vice President Qatar in 2009 with added responsibility for the Qatargas 4 LNG project.
Andy was awarded an OBE in the 2012 UK New Year’s Honours List for his services to British-Qatari business relations and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
