Diana Fox Carney


Diana Fox Carney joined Shell Foundation's Board of Trustees in June 2017.

Diana has worked for a range of development organisations and policy think tanks, focusing particularly on climate and energy issues and supporting sustainable livelihoods. She began her career with DFID in Zanzibar, then spent time as a Research Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute working especially on rural livelihoods and asset-based approaches to development. 
She is a national of both the UK and Canada and was previously based in Ottawa where she was Vice President, Research at the think tank, Canada 2020. There she focused on energy and climate as well as issues around income inequality and productivity/innovation.
More recently Diana worked as Director of Strategy and Head of Climate and Energy at the Institute for Public Policy Research and is now Executive Director, Content and Operations at Pi Capital, a unique convening organisation in London.
As part of a diverse portfolio she supports various green economy initiatives, including chairing the board of Ashden. She is a trustee of  Save the Children UK and the Friends of the Royal Academy and takes care of her four daughters.
