M-KOPA makes Global Cleantech 100 list

Shell Foundation partner M-KOPA Solar, the world’s leading ‘pay-as-you-go’ energy provider to off-grid homes, has been named in the 2017 Global Cleantech 100 for the third time, recognising the company’s impact on providing energy access to low-income, off-grid populations and its potential to continue having “a significant market impact within a 5-10 year timeframe.”

The company has connected more than 400,000 homes to affordable solar power, improving the livelihoods of more than two million people.

M-KOPA’s inclusion on the Cleantech list, which received nearly 10,000 nominations from 77 countries, has been reported by The Exchange in Kenya, with reaction from M-KOPA CEO Jesse Moore.
