Refrigeration without power

The BBC highlights an innovative refrigeration solution developed by SureChillone of Shell Foundation’s incubation partners.

Sure Chill is a refrigerator company with a novel technology that uses water for cooling, thermal battery to store energy and harnesses solar power. The refrigerator has the unique capability of keeping an optimum temperature of 4°C for 10 days without power – making it ideal for both grid-connected customers with intermittent power and off-grid customers.
This solution has the potential to significantly reduce the amount of food spoilage for smallholder farmers. Read the BBC report to find out how it is being used in emerging markets.
