The London Stock Exchange Group’s 2017 list of ‘Companies to Inspire Africa’ features 17 Shell Foundation partners.

Companies were listed based on their growth performance, evaluated in terms of revenues, number of employees, operational output or geographic expansion over the past three years.

The list was collated from nominations of companies identified as high-growth businesses by PwC, CDC Group and African Development Group, as well as development finance institutions, venture capitalists, private equity firms and impact investors.

“… high-growth, private companies are fast becoming the driving force behind African economies: developing skills, creating high-quality jobs and driving economic growth,” said Xavier Rolet, CEO of the London Stock Exchange Group.

“[the listed companies] are revolutionising their sectors and paving the way for future entrepreneurs, with a combination of the strongest growth figures and impressive stories.”

Foundation partners included those working in all three of our focus areas – Access to Energy, Sustainable Mobility and SME Growth – and in numerous markets of Africa. Of the 17 listed, four received a special feature (see below)
