Alex Gee joined Shell Foundation in February 2026.
Alex brings more than 20 years of international communications experience spanning global media, strategic advisory and purpose-driven leadership.
She joins SF from the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), where she worked alongside the CEO to establish and build the organisation from inception into the world’s only international organisation solely focused on accelerating climate adaptation. As a founding team member, she led global communications and brand strategy, positioning GCA as a leading voice on resilience, climate finance and adaptation action across governments, multilateral institutions and the private sector.
Prior to GCA, Alexandra worked in communications agencies advising Heads of State, senior political leaders and Ultra High Net Worth Individuals on strategic positioning, reputation management and global media engagement.
Alex began her career as a journalist with CNN International and in the UK with ITV News and Channel 4 News, before joining the founding team of Al Jazeera English in Doha. There, she helped launch the channel globally and went on to manage coverage across Central and South Asia, leading teams reporting on some of the region’s most significant political and economic developments.
Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from University College London and a Master’s degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the School of Oriental and African Studies..
