ClimaFii Alliance Issues Call for Clean Energy Applications

The Climate and Finance Innovations (ClimaFii) Alliance’s supporting partners have issued calls for applications in sub-Saharan Africa and India for clean energy solutions that raise incomes for Small and medium enterprises.

BFA Global and Upaya Social Ventures are seeking climate enterprises to design and develop emission-reducing technologies specifically to benefit microentrepreneurs in these markets.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital to the economies of Africa and India, providing a significant portion of employment. These enterprises face a substantial financing gap, however, which makes it challenging to secure funds for essential tools and emission-reducing technologies.

The ClimaFii Alliance addresses this by combining venture building and financial product design to make climate technologies more accessible to microentrepreneurs. Shell Foundation, with co-funding from the UK government through its Transforming Energy Access platform, and the global nonprofit Accion launched the alliance in January.
