About

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and Shell Foundation have expanded their MOU in 2023 to increase the flow of commercial capital into Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) solutions in emerging markets.

Project Focus

The partnership addresses several DRE areas, including energy for households and local enterprises, e-mobility, and climate-smart agri-tech.

Since their 2021 MOU, aimed at deploying $150 million, they have surpassed this goal in under two years. This partnership showcases how philanthropic and development finance capital can effectively collaborate, leveraging Shell Foundation’s risk-tolerant capital and market knowledge with DFC’s support to fund high-impact businesses.
