Rachel is Shell Foundation’s Chief Financial Officer and heads up all aspects of our corporate resources whilst sponsoring key parts of our impact strategy and sitting as a permanent member of our funding approvals committee.
Rachel has looked after SF’s social investment strategy for some years, taking us from our first steps in non-grant funding to overseeing our investments in a range of innovative financing mechanisms, with SF making over $100m in social investments in recent years. Rachel also sits on our endowment Investment Committee, setting and monitoring our investment objectives and driving forward SF’s responsible investment journey and commitments.
Recently, Rachel was instrumental in embedding EDI into SF’s strategic direction, transforming the level of our ambition and she is now leadership sponsor of EDI, creating an enabling environment for our ambitions to be realised, across the breadth of our activities. In addition, Rachel heads up Risk, Governance, Ethics & Compliance, Finance, Contracting, IT, Legal and HR and looks after our Audit & Risk Committee and Board proceedings.
Prior to this role, Rachel developed broad experience in developing markets, particularly in access to energy, social entrepreneurship, supply chain interventions and small holder agri. Rachel has extensive corporate experience in large listed companies in finance, risk, transactions, capital markets, investor relations, organisational transformation, change and risk management and Board governance.
Rachel is a Chartered Accountant and holds a degree from University of Oxford. She holds various Board roles from time to time and can count amongst her achievements being named a “Woman to Watch” by Cranfield Business School and being awarded the ICAS Chief Executive’s Award in her furtherance of social business.
