Business as usual will not meet SDG7

The off-grid household energy market has grown dramatically in recent decades, yet with current levels of financing and new connections, SDG7 – access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all – will be missed by more than 100m households in sub-Saharan Africa alone.

SF is focused on helping its portfolio to improve efficiency of operations in order to reach low-income consumers, coordinating sector actors to address key challenges and supporting new models working with local entrepreneurs in ‘frontier markets’, where millions of low-income consumers remain largely unreached.
