In partnership with the Moving Women Social Initiatives Foundation (MOWO) the Moving Boundaries campaign is covering 11,111+ kms of India’s boundary, unlocking the potential of women in sustainable mobility.

About the Moving Boundaries Campaign

The campaign sees Jai Bharathi, founder of MOWO, embarking on a 40-day tour covering more than 20 cities to create awareness and encourage women to learn driving skills that increase their job opportunities. Starting from Hyderabad, the tour is covering Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Goa, Pune, Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur, Amritsar, Srinagar, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Patna, Guwahati, Kolkata, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, among others.

Shipra Nayyar, an SF Business Development Advisor says: “We launched ‘Moving Boundaries’ to promote safe, affordable, and clean transportation for women to better all aspects of their lives. The focus is also to create an environment whereby more women can enter the workforce by learning how to drive and becoming owner-entrepreneurs of their vehicles in the transportation linked sectors such as e-rickshaws and as delivery agents.

So far, the Moving Boundaries Tour has witnessed the launch of The Women Motor Training Centre in Hyderabad, been welcomed by an inspirational squad of women cab, rickshaw and ambulance drivers in Chennai, and heard inspirational stories from women finding meaningful employment as e-rickshaw drivers and trainers empowering more underprivileged women.

Moving Boundaries was launched in partnership with the POWERED Programme (Promotion of Women in Energy Related Enterprises for Development), co-funded by SF and the UK government to promote safer and cleaner transportation for women. POWERED was launched back in 2017 and works to increase participation of women across the clean energy and mobility value chain in India to support women in generating income and reducing carbon emissions from transport.
